Last week we discussed a few things that Google wants to see. Here is that summary.
1. Ensure your website is mobile optimised and loads fast
2. Setup a YouTube channel
3. Upload videos regularly
4. Claim and Optimise your Google My Business (GMB) listing
5. Encourage and respond to GMB reviews
6. Post regular photos, videos and other content to your GMB
One thing my colleagues and I all agree on is that Google My Business (GMB) is the most under-rated free marketing tool online today. So if you have not already, claim your GMB listing and start adding your business details.
Most of us use Wordpress as our website platform. Unfortunately Wordpress is not ideal when it comes to fast load times, which is a major ranking factor in Google. (think user experience on mobile) You can test the load time of your website here. If slow, there are inexpensive methods to speed up your site and ensure your visitors do not leave due to slow load times.
Sites like "Wordpress for the Beginner" may also help you optimise your site.
You may also find this article helpful. It takes a look at reasons small business websites do not rank. Some of the findings may surprise you.
